ARCs
I'm stating for the record that ARC's are a form of cruel and unusual punishment. On the surface it seems like a good thing to be able read a novel that is unavailable at the book store for a few more months, but in reality it's torture knowing that I have to wait THAT MUCH LONGER for the next book to be published. I don't like it.

I know the feeling. It's a double-edged sword, because when the real excitement peaks, you've already read the book. I had that experience last year when Breaking Dawn came out--we got our shipment in at the bookstore 10 days before we could put them on the shelves. I really wanted to read it and my girlfriend at the time was like so hey, just take one and read it then. And I thought about it and--aside from the legal ramifications of that--I was enjoying the suspense and the windup. It was analagous to other things in life. I told her it's almost like waiting to have s...uh, to do that thing that married people can do ;-) I mean yeah it'll be awesome, but if it happens at the wrong time, it spoils the awesomosity of it.
ReplyDeleteBut still, I own an ARC! :-D
You are cracking me up. I don't like suspense. Or surprises. I like knowing all things well in advance.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not going to spoil anything about Sidewinder 2 for you, except maybe the title, but you'll have no idea what it means even after you finish book one. It's called "The Cold Within".
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I don't want spoilers. I want the freedom to read for hours on end without interruption so I can know how it ends. Otherwise, I'm afraid the NOT knowing would kill me.
